Virginia's Freight Plan, known as VTrans Freight Element, is included as Chapter 4 in VTrans, the state's latest Transportation Plan. This reflects Virginia's integrative and cohesive approach to viewing and incorporating freight planning into the state's mid-term and long-term transportation planning.
The last update of Virginia's Freight Element was completed in 2021, identifying several mid-term and long-term issues. Several of these issues are being addressed as part of the 2021 VTrans Strategic Actions.

The map shows overall weight for the Commonwealth as a whole. You can also filter for the nine individual VDOT (Virginia Department of Transportation) Construction Districts.
