About UDAs

Urban Development Areas (UDAs) are special growth areas that a city, county, or town can choose to create. Setting up a UDA is optional.
A place must have a comprehensive plan and zoning authority to create one. This rule comes from theCode of Virginia § 15.2-2223.1.
This webpage gives a basic overview for local governments that want to set up or manage a UDA.
